Monita's Mardi Gras Cocktail Recipe
Hurricane Cocktails
Visions of Bourbon Street filled with live music, large and colorful drinks in nearly every hand, and of course, the beads, come to mind when you think of Mardi Gras. But did you know that the sweet and fruity cocktail, Hurricane, is the official drink of Mardi Gras? This multi-week celebration began in 1699 and has been held in New Orleans nearly every year since. Officially a religious holiday, Mardi Gras may not have been canceled for COVID but the legendary parades were.
But in 2023, the streets will be filled with visitors in town to collect their beads and dance the night away with a drink in hand. Even if you won't be in New Orleans to devour the po' boys and beignets, the official cocktail of Mardi Gras is easy to make at home!
After adding Monita Tequila to the traditional cocktail recipe, will the Hurricane ever be the same again? Let us know once you try out this recipe.
Ingredients:
2 ounces blanco Monita Tequila
1 ounce light rum
1 ounce dark rum
½ cup fresh orange juice
¼ cup passion fruit puree
2 tablespoons grenadine
Steps:
Add the tequila, rums, orange juice, and passion fruit into a shaker with ice and shake until chilled
Pour the drink into the glass already filled with ice
Drizzle in the grenadine and let it settle at the bottom of the glass for a two-toned look or add with the rest of the ingredients for a blended flavor.
Enjoy :)
